What an unforgettable afternoon for our NorthStar families!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Scarborough Shooting Stars Foundation, our families had the opportunity to experience the excitement of professional basketball as the Scarborough Shooting Stars faced off against the Montreal Alliance at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
From the opening tip-off to the thrilling final buzzer, the game kept everyone on the edge of their seats. It was a closely contested battle filled with incredible athleticism, spectacular shots, and nonstop excitement. When the home team secured the victory with the final shot, the arena erupted in cheers—and so did our families!
One parent shared that their child was completely captivated throughout the entire game. As the winning basket went in, he leaped from his seat, cheered at the top of his lungs, and celebrated with pure joy. Moments like these remind us how meaningful inclusive community experiences can be.
Another family told us that their child has now become a devoted Shooting Stars fan. The excitement of cheering for the team has brought him so much happiness, and he enthusiastically encourages the players every chance he gets.
For another NorthStar family, the evening became even more memorable when their son appeared twice on the arena's big screen during halftime activities. To top it all off, he had the opportunity to join other fans in high-fiving the players after the game. The experience left him absolutely thrilled and inspired him to dream of one day wearing a NorthStar basketball jersey himself.
These shared experiences go far beyond basketball. They create opportunities for children with special needs to build confidence, connect with their community, discover new interests, and create lasting family memories.
