Celebrating Inclusion Through Art

Updated: 2 days ago

NSNS and CCBAG’s 2026 New Year Charity Concert

On January 4, 2026, the Canada Children’s Broadcasting Arts Group (CCBAG) successfully hosted its 2026 New Year Charity Concert in Toronto. Centered on the theme “Art Unites Us, Warmth Brings Us Together,” the concert marked a meaningful collaboration with NorthStar Special Needs Society (NSNS), bringing children with autism and neurotypical children together on the same stage.

Through music and performance, the event delivered a powerful message of inclusion, respect, and hope.

A Performance That Touched Hearts

The most moving moments of the evening came from the inclusive performances shared by CCBAG members and children from NSNS. On stage, children walked hand in hand during a fashion showcase, symbolizing companionship and mutual support. Several children with autism also confidently performed on their own, courageously stepping into the spotlight.

There were no labels on that stage—only understanding, encouragement, and shared joy. The audience responded with long, heartfelt applause, with many attendees describing it as one of the most touching New Year concerts they had ever experienced.

Art That Belongs to Everyone

The program featured a wide range of performances, including classical and ballet dance, choir, instrumental music, popular songs, and inclusive runway presentations. Performers ranged in age from 3 to 73, beautifully reflecting the diversity and inclusiveness of the community.

The concert reminded everyone that art is for every child, and that creativity can be a bridge that connects people across differences.

Community Recognition and Support

The event received strong support and recognition from government representatives and community leaders, who praised the young performers for their dedication to both artistic excellence and community service. Many highlighted how initiatives like this help young people grow with empathy, social responsibility, and a strong sense of giving back.

A Message of Gratitude from NSNS Benny Xie, Founder of NorthStar Special Needs Society, shared heartfelt thanks:

“We are deeply grateful to the children and families of CCBAG for walking hand in hand with our children with autism. This New Year concert was not only a shared performance, but a powerful expression of society’s care and acceptance of children with special needs. Thank you to all levels of government, community partners, and supporters who help our children grow in a warm and inclusive environment.”

Moving Forward Together

This collaboration between CCBAG and NSNS was more than a concert—it was a meaningful step toward building a more inclusive community grounded in compassion and mutual respect.

At NSNS, we believe that when children grow up feeling understood and valued, they gain the confidence to step into the world with courage. We look forward to continuing partnerships like this, using art as a way to connect hearts, celebrate differences, and create a future where every child belongs.
