NorthStar Ottawa Dragon Boat Community Experience During NAAW 2026

As part of NAAW 2026, the NorthStar Ottawa Dragon Boat Community Experience brought children, families, and community members together for an afternoon of outdoor fun, teamwork, and connection on the water.
Inspired by NorthStar’s established dragon boat program in Toronto, the Ottawa Community Experience focused on creating a welcoming and accessible environment where participants of all ages and backgrounds could enjoy nature and experience the spirit of teamwork through dragon boating.
Throughout the afternoon, families had the opportunity to explore Ottawa’s waterways, learn basic paddling skills, and participate in interactive team activities in a relaxed and supportive setting. The event emphasized inclusion, accessibility, and community participation, making outdoor recreation more approachable for everyone.
For many participants, the experience was not only about dragon boating, but also about building confidence, making new connections, and enjoying meaningful time outdoors with family and friends.
